Rebecca Ellison has worked in a variety of visual art media, including stained glass, pencil and ink drawings/pointillism, acrylic painting, oil and chalk pastel, Interior and exterior mixed media murals, pottery, polymer clay and digital art design. She has designed and created (very) large scale physical and digital backdrop sets and logo designs for numerous events, including fundraising galas, school celebrations and church services. Rebecca particularly enjoys designing and creating watercolour, archival ink and etched pieces on wood and clayboard in her own art practice. Many of her commissioned and purchased pieces can be found in private collections. She has had the pleasure of showing her original art pieces through shows such as Beacon Original Art and Neon Milkshake Studio.
Rebecca combines her background in occupational therapy and work with special needs students in the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) with her love of visual arts to promote health and wellness through the arts no matter what your age, stage or abilities may be! She believes that EVERYONE has something to share artistically…sometimes just a little encouragement is all that is needed!
Rebecca currently works as a CBE artist-in-residence and has instructed child, teen and adult classes privately through the Inglewood Art and Music School and currently co-leads a “Faith & the Arts” visual arts group. Originally a Learning Through The Arts artist-educator, she has been a CBE Artist Roster member and independent contractor for several years. Rebecca is currently pursuing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) professional development and certification and integrates STEAM whenever possible in her instruction and project design with students.
Rebecca is also a member of the Arts Touring Alliance of Alberta, is actively engaged with Calgary Arts Development (stay tuned for Artist Directory link!), a member of Creative Aging Calgary Society, and associate member of CAIT (Creative Arts and Integrated Therapies). She has enjoyed giving back to the community through the arts: Garrison Green Seniors Community, Studio C (Mental Health through the arts), and collaborating with Accessible Housing Calgary.
